In the official statement, it was noted that Amsterdam Central Station, Dam Square, the Red Light District, and the area around Johan Cruyff Arena are among the regions where "preventive search and intervention authority" has been granted. In these areas, clothing that covers the face and masks are prohibited, and carrying fireworks and explosives is completely banned.
It was reported that police teams may conduct identity checks, searches, and detentions from noon on match day until midnight. Dutch media stated that the Ajax – Galatasaray match is considered a "high-security match."
SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST
In a previous match where the two teams faced each other in Amsterdam, 15 people were detained, and protests with fireworks occurred around the stadium.
The Ajax – Galatasaray match, which will be played in the 4th week of the UEFA Champions League, will kick off at 23:00 local time at Johan Cruyff Arena this evening. It was stated that both Dutch and Turkish fan groups will be closely monitored before the match, and immediate intervention will be made at the slightest provocation.
