Babacan also responded to claims that he would take over the economic management by saying, "These days, those who assign us tasks have increased again. A thousand rumors are worth a penny. Those who produce these rumors need to understand this first; we are candidates for the entire management of this country. Because we are the ones most ready to govern the country."

Journalist Özlem Gürses, speaking on her program Para Politika and Hayat on Sözcü TV, claimed that Babacan received an offer to return to the AK Party.
