The Armenian Investigative Committee's written statement states that an investigation has been launched against 7 individuals, 5 of whom are Armenian citizens and 2 of whom are from the Armenian population in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, on suspicion of preparing to seize power illegally. COUP GROUP RECEIVED HEAVY WEAPON TRAININGAs a result of the investigation, it was determined that these individuals formed an illegal group to forcibly seize power and made preparations to take over the powers of the Republic of Armenia government through violence and threats. It was found that these individuals had previously arranged to pay a monthly salary of 220,000 Russian rubles (approximately $2,350) to a large number of individuals in Armenia and former Karabakh residents in order to take over power in 2024. It was also determined that these individuals had received three-month training in Russia, where they were taught to use heavy weapons, and then returned to Armenia to participate in operations and provide information to train others. According to the statement of the Investigative Committee, these individuals were taken to Rostov-on-Don and subjected to a polygraph test to determine whether they had any connection with the Armenian law enforcement. 3 PEOPLE ARRESTEDIt was stated that these individuals were later taken to a military base called "Arbat" in Russia to receive close combat training and were informed at that time that they were being trained to carry out a coup. It was noted that some of the individuals who underwent training refused to participate in the coup and left, and as a result of the investigation by the law enforcement, the coup attempt was uncovered.
Within the scope of the investigation, it was announced that 3 people have been arrested and investigations are ongoing to determine if there are more individuals involved in the coup attempt.
