The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) was shaken by allegations of abuse involving an intern student. Following the family's application to the Assembly's administration, an administrative investigation was initiated, and initially, a staff member working as a cook was suspended from duty. The scope of the investigation has been expanded, and inquiries into other individuals are ongoing.
The General Secretariat of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) took action following allegations of "abuse" against an intern student working in the Parliament. The family of the student, who is interning during the 2024-2025 academic year, officially filed a complaint with the General Secretariat on November 19, 2025.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED ON THE SAME DAY
In the statement, it was noted that an administrative investigation was promptly initiated on November 20, following the receipt of the complaint. It was emphasized that the TBMM administration is conducting the process "meticulously."
ONE STAFF MEMBER REMOVED FROM DUTY
The first step was taken within the scope of the investigation. The statement reported that a public employee working as a cook was suspended from duty on December 4, 2025. The examination of other individuals is ongoing.
SCOPE IS EXPANDING, DISCIPLINARY PROCESS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
The Parliament administration announced that the investigation is expected to be completed by December 12, 2025. It was stated that as a result of the investigation, disciplinary sanctions ranging from dismissal from public service to other measures could be applied to those involved.
The TBMM General Secretariat announced that all findings arising during the investigation process would be shared with judicial authorities.
