An earthquake that occurred in the Aegean Region in the evening hours caused a brief panic. The magnitude of the tremor, centered in the Simav district of Kütahya, was reported as 4.9 according to the Kandilli Observatory and 4.8 according to AFAD; the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 5.4 kilometers, was felt not only in Kütahya but also in Uşak, Balıkesir, Bursa, and Bilecik.
The earthquake that occurred in Kütahya in the evening hours was also felt in surrounding provinces. The tremor centered in Simav caused short-term panic.
EARTHQUAKE WITH A MAGNITUDE OF 4.9
The earthquake occurred at 17:31. While the Kandilli Observatory reported the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.9, AFAD announced it as 4.8.
FELT IN SURROUNDING PROVINCES
According to Kandilli data, the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of approximately 5.4 kilometers, was felt in Kütahya as well as in Uşak, Balıkesir, Bursa, and Bilecik.
No official statement has been made regarding any loss of life or property according to initial assessments.
