The investigation into the horrifying incident that occurred at a high school in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul, where Fatma Nur Çelik lost her life and 6 others were injured, has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, serious charges were brought against 17-year-old student Furkan Samet Bakalım, including "premeditated and cruel murder," with a total prison sentence of up to 126 years being sought.

BLOODY ATTACK: TEACHER LOST HER LIFE
The incident occurred on March 2, 2026, at Borsa Istanbul Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. The student Furkan Samet Bakalım (17) stabbed their teachers Fatma Nur Çelik (44) and Zeynep Aybars (52), along with 6 students. While the injured were taken to the hospital, the severely injured teacher Çelik could not be saved despite all interventions.
The attacking student was arrested at the scene and was sent to prison after being detained by the court.
REQUEST FOR UP TO 126 YEARS IN PRISON
The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed. The following charges were included in the indictment against the defendant:
“Deliberate and cruel murder against a woman due to public duty”
Against 6 individuals:
“Attempted murder with deliberate and cruel intent against a child”
“Attempted murder with deliberate and cruel intent due to public duty”
In this context, a total prison sentence of up to 126 years has been requested for the defendant.
FORENSIC MEDICAL REPORT: MENTAL HEALTH IS INTACT
The report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institution stated that the suspect's mental health is intact and that the attack was carried out with the intent to kill.
If the prepared indictment is accepted, the defendant will appear before the judge in the coming days.
