As part of the 'urban consensus' investigation, it has emerged that Dilan Gül, the daughter of Sancaktepe Municipality Council Member Elif Gül, participated in the PKK's rural structure, and that Elif Gül, along with her husband, went to the mountains to visit her daughter. Following the arrest of Elif Gül last night as part of the investigation, a notable move came from Sancaktepe Mayor Alper Yeğin.
As part of the 'Urban Reconciliation' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an operation was carried out against the deputy mayors and council members of 9 municipalities on the grounds of their connection to the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization. A total of 10 suspects, including 9 deputy mayors and council members from the CHP, were detained during the operation.
ALLEGATION OF 'ORGANIZATION STRATEGY'
It was claimed that the suspects were elected and began to serve under the 'Urban Reconciliation' framework following instructions given by the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization after the March 31, 2024 Local Elections, and that they acted in accordance with the organization's strategy. The suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse yesterday. The prosecutor's office took statements from 3 suspects. It was learned that 7 suspects provided statements at the police station. The 10 suspects were arrested by the duty magistrate court.
THEY TOOK A MEMORY PHOTO
Among those arrested in the investigation, an examination of the digital materials of Sancaktepe Municipal Council Member Elif Gül revealed that her daughter Dilan Gül joined the PKK terrorist organization in 2013. 'Memory' photos of Elif Gül visiting the rural area of the PKK with her husband Fethi Ahmet Gül in 2014 emerged. It was learned that Dilan Gül is still wanted for the crime of being a "member of a terrorist organization."
SUPPORT CAME FROM ALPER YEĞİN
After Elif Gül's detention, Sancaktepe Mayor Alper Yeğin stated on his social media account that the operation was political, saying, "We do not accept the political operations directed at our municipalities and municipal council members. The will of the people has never been lost," he noted.
HE DELETED HIS POST
After the emergence of photos of Elif Gül with her daughter linked to the PKK and the detention of Gül in the operation last night, President Yeğin deleted the photo he shared in support of Elif Gül.
