The Official Gazette dated November 29, 2024, has been published. In the Official Gazette published with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, changes were made to the Regulation on School Service Vehicles. With the new regulation, the age limit for school service vehicles has been relaxed, allowing vehicles that lose the 12-year requirement during the contract period to be used until the end of the academic year.
Accordingly, vehicles that meet the age requirement to be used as school service vehicles and lose the age requirement during the contract period can continue to operate, provided that they do not exceed the duration of the current academic year.
Drivers of school service vehicles must have at least 2 years of driving experience for a Class D driver's license and at least 5 years for a Class D1 driver's license. In metropolitan municipalities, if required by the decision of the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME), and in other provinces, if required by the decision of the Provincial Traffic Commission, a vocational qualification certificate will be required in accordance with the Law on Some Regulations Related to the Vocational Qualification Authority.
CAMERA REQUIREMENT INTRODUCED
In school service vehicles, it is required to have an internal and external camera that can record for at least 30 days and can see all seats, and the condition that no glass other than transparent glass showing the interior of the vehicle can be used will not be sought for models from 2017 and earlier until the first periodic inspection after March 1, 2025.
