The New York Police Department reported that a man who allegedly stabbed and killed an 8-year-old child in Queens was shot and killed by a police officer. THE REASON FOR THE MURDER IS UNKNOWNPolice said that the stabbing was most likely the result of a domestic dispute, but details are still unclear. Police stated that the 20-year-old suspect and the 8-year-old male victim may be siblings or step-siblings. Names have not been released yet. The incident occurred in an apartment building on 94th Street in the Jamaica neighborhood of the county. Police said that around 5:20 pm, a 29-year-old woman who was stabbed in the back left the building and ran down the street to seek help from the MTA Police. At the same time, the building's security desk called the police. POLICE FIRED WHEN THE ATTACKER DID NOT DROP THE KNIFEWhen police officers entered the apartment, they saw the suspect threatening his 43-year-old father with a knife. Police stated that the suspect refused repeated orders to drop the knife and that an officer then fired a shot, hitting the suspect. The suspect was taken to a hospital in the area where he died. Police also mentioned that an 8-month-old baby was in the apartment during the incident, but the baby was unharmed. NYPD Chief Chell said, "We want to remind New York police officers that sometimes they have to make quick decisions. And by making these decisions, they saved two lives." The footage of the attack was captured by police cameras. Police stated that the 29-year-old woman and the 43-year-old man were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment and that both of them are in good condition.
