The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, commented on the PKK's disarmament ceremony, saying, "We hope that this step marks the beginning of a period in which the weapons will be completely silenced. This process should be managed with quick and decisive steps, ensuring that no party or segment of society is excluded, that nothing is hidden from the nation, and that social consensus is taken into account under the roof of the Parliament."

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement following the terrorist organization PKK's destruction of weapons in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

In a post on X, Özel stated that they welcomed the terrorist organization's step towards disarmament, saying, "We hope that this step marks the beginning of a period where the weapons will be completely silenced."

"THE PERMANENT END OF TERRORISM IS OUR COMMON WILL"

"The Republican People's Party rejects all forms of terrorism and violence with historical consistency. Our party stands for peace," Özel conveyed, adding, "The permanent end of terrorism, which has cost our country dearly, is our common will."

Özel continued with the following statements:

"We welcome the symbolic disarmament step of the terrorist organization today. We thank all politicians and officials, especially the late Sirri Süreyya Önder, who contributed and worked towards bringing the process to this point. This process should be managed with quick and decisive steps, without excluding any party or segment of society, without hiding anything from the nation, and under the roof of the Parliament, while ensuring social consensus. Establishing a complete peace environment in Turkey is only possible through justice and democracy. An environment where appointed trustees replace elected mayors, investigations that criminalize the entry of Kurds into municipal councils continue, elected politicians are held in prison through unlawful methods, and democratic competition is undermined is the main enemy of social peace and the biggest obstacle to our efforts to strengthen our internal front. What our country needs is a Terror-Free and Democratic Turkey. For prosperity, peace is necessary; for peace, unity is required; and for unity, democracy and justice are essential. We will continue to contribute and fight for our common future and for peace with determination."
