US DELEGATION IN RUSSIA FOR CEASEFIRE
US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that following the meetings between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation went to Russia to discuss a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine. Trump stated that he received "positive messages" regarding the possibility of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing that the process is at a critical stage. "However, a positive message alone means nothing. This is a very serious situation," Trump said, adding that the establishment of a ceasefire largely depends on Russia's stance.
"I HOPE WE CAN ACHIEVE A CEASEFIRE"
Trump said, "There are people going to Russia right now. I hope we can achieve a ceasefire. If we succeed, it will account for 80% of the road to ending this terrible bloodbath."
"I CAN DESTROY RUSSIA IF I WANT"
On the other hand, US President Trump also threatened Russia, stating, "I can destroy Russia if I want. We can financially ruin Russia, but I don't want to do that because I want peace."
Vice President James David Vance noted that after Ukraine accepted the ceasefire, the US is in a strong position in the negotiations, saying, "Now we will see if we can convince the Russians to agree to a ceasefire."
CEASEFIRE PROCESS BETWEEN UKRAINE AND RUSSIA
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had previously suggested a ceasefire in the air and sea domains, indicating that the first steps towards peace could be taken. The US presented a proposal for a ceasefire to be declared on all fronts during the meeting held in Saudi Arabia yesterday, and Ukraine accepted the proposal. The US Department of State announced that it would establish official contact with Russia regarding the ceasefire following the discussions with Ukraine.
