A forest fire that broke out near residential areas in the Antakya district of Hatay quickly spread to some houses due to strong winds. Evacuations have begun in the neighborhood due to the fire, and teams are continuing their intervention from both the air and the ground.

EVACUATION WORKS HAVE STARTED After the fire reached the houses, evacuation efforts were initiated in the neighborhood. Teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry dispatched to the scene are continuing their intervention to prevent the fire from spreading further.
WARNING TO CITIZENS: BE CAREFUL Authorities warned citizens in the area to be careful and to comply with evacuation warnings. The cause of the fire will be clarified with an investigation to be conducted.
ABOUT 1500 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EVACUATED Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı, who went to the region, received information from the teams about the efforts and spoke with the citizens. After his inspection, Masatlı told reporters that there has been an unusual wind in the city in the last two days. Stating that the flames jumped to different areas because of this, Masatlı said, "We have started evacuations in our neighborhoods, especially in Karaali, Oğlakören, and Üçgedik. We have evacuated approximately 1500 citizens. We are currently placing our citizens in dormitories in our city."
"THANKFULLY, WE HAVE NO LOSS OF LIFE" Masatlı stated that many teams are intervening in the fire and said: "In addition to our forestry organization, the personnel of the police, gendarmerie, and other public institutions are currently working to extinguish the fire. On the other hand, in order to intervene in the fire from all sides and directions, we have established our crisis center in accordance with the Turkey Disaster Response Plan. Right now, especially to open roads to areas we cannot reach and to intervene from the ground there, we have mobilized all the construction machinery of our public institutions and organizations to the region. The most important thing here is that there is no loss of life. Thankfully, we have no loss of life at this moment."
Masatlı emphasized that they are working to bring the fire under control as soon as possible, saying, "We see that the fire has spread to some houses within our neighborhoods. Of course, this will definitely affect our efforts to prevent the course of the fire, but on the other hand, I would like to express that the wind has created a serious disadvantage in our region."
