Anadolu Agency's Morning Briefing – Jan. 17, 2022

Anadolu Agency is here with a rundown of the latest developments on the coronavirus pandemic and other news in Turkiye and around the world.
Coronavirus and other developments in Turkiye
Turkiye has administered more than 139.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an immunization drive in January 2021, according to official figures released on Sunday.
More than 57.2 million people have received a first jab, while over 52 million have been fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.
The country has also given third booster shots to more than 23.3 million people.
Separately, the ministry confirmed 54,100 new coronavirus infections, 136 related deaths, and 68,895 recoveries over the past day.
Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Albania on Monday.
The visit comes at the invitation of Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama, Turkiye's Communications Directorate said in a statement on Sunday.
Discussions will be held on all aspects of the strategic partnership between Turkiye and Albania and steps to enhance cooperation between the two nations, the statement said.
Erdogan will exchange views with top Albanian officials on regional and international issues, and also address Albania's parliament.
A 4.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Turkiye's Mugla province, the country's disaster agency reported early Monday.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake occurred at 1: 16 a.m. local time (2216GMT) off Seydikemer district in the Mediterranean Sea.
The earthquake occurred at a distance of 25.45 kilometers (15.8 miles) from Seydikemer and at a depth of 7.14 kilometers (4.4 miles).
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Other developments worldwide
North Korea test-fired two suspected short-range ballistic missiles, South Korea's military said Monday, in the fourth missile test this year, local media reported.
The two ballistic missiles were fired eastward from the Sunan airport area in Pyongyang, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
France's parliament gave final approval Sunday to a contentious vaccine pass bill aimed at restricting the movement of unvaccinated people in public places as part of the government's latest efforts to tackle COVID-19.
Lawmakers in the lower house of parliament voted 215-58 with seven abstentions.
Meanwhile, North Macedonia's parliament voted Sunday to approve a new coalition government led by the Social Democrats.
A total of 108 deputies participated in the vote of confidence on the new 120-seat parliament, with 62 "yes" and 46 "no".
The new Cabinet is led by Dimitar Kovacevski, the leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia.
In sports news, Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup 2-0 against Athletic Bilbao in Sunday's final.
Goals from Luka Modric and Karim Benzema (penalty) gave Real Madrid victory at the King Fahd International Stadium in the Saudi capital Riyadh. -
