While the suspect, who claimed in her police statement that she burned the flag because she had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, was referred to the courthouse, politicians reacted strongly to the vile attack.
A woman suspected of setting fire to a Turkish flag hanging in front of a shop with a lighter in the Menteşe district of Muğla was caught and detained as a result of the police pursuit. While the claim of a "schizophrenia report" in the statement of the suspect, who was referred to the courthouse, drew attention, reactions to the vile attack grew like an avalanche.
A scandalous incident occurred at night in Kurşunlu Square in the Menteşe district of Muğla. A woman, taking advantage of the darkness of the night, checked her surroundings, then set fire to a Turkish flag hanging in front of a shop with a lighter and quickly fled the scene.
CAMERA FOOTAGE LED TO THE CAPTURE
When shop owners came to open their shops in the morning and saw the burning Turkish flag, they immediately reported the situation to the police. Upon the report, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Security Branch examined the security camera footage of the businesses in the area one by one. As a result of the meticulous work, it was determined that the person who burned the flag was a woman named A.A. The suspect was taken into custody by the police with reversed handcuffs.
HER STATEMENT CAUSED ASTONISHMENT
The police statement of A.A., who was referred to the courthouse after her procedures at the police station, has emerged. It was learned that in her statement, the suspect claimed that although she had no illness, she was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia at a hospital and given a report, and that she burned the flag for this reason.

I believe the person responsible for the incident will receive the necessary response before the law.
- MHP Menteşe District Chairman Kadir Türk: Any attack or disrespect towards our star and crescent flag is an obvious impertinence against our nation's common values. We request that the incident be investigated in all its aspects and the necessary legal proceedings be carried out.
