Shakhtar Donetsk, coached by Arda Turan, lost 4-1 to LNZ Cherkasy in the Ukrainian League. This was Shakhtar Donetsk's first defeat in the league this season. In statements made after the match, Arda Turan took full responsibility for the loss and said, "To be honest, I think this is the worst day I've experienced since I started working as the head coach."
While LNZ Cherkasy defeated Shakhtar Donetsk for the first time in history, Shakhtar Donetsk also suffered its first defeat in the league this season.
"I THINK IT WAS THE WORST DAY"
After the match, Arda Turan stated, "I want to congratulate our opponent LNZ. They really played better today and deserved this result until the end. To be honest, I think this is the worst day I have experienced since I started working as the head coach. What I felt today is truly devastating, and I probably feel this way for the first time in my coaching career. I take full responsibility: When the team concedes four goals at home, it is entirely my responsibility, and I will not shy away from that. Today's match was primarily based on one-on-one situations, and unfortunately, we could not respond adequately to all these events. It is also important to emphasize what our reaction will be, whether we will respond as an ordinary team or as a champion team. What I can say for sure is that after the break for international matches, we will learn many lessons from today's match together," he said.
Continuing his statements, Turan said, "Despite the defeat, I went into the locker room after the match and wished all our national team players good luck, because representing your national team is one of the most honorable things in football. And I am really proud that they have the opportunity to represent their countries, especially the representatives of the Ukrainian national team. Overall, I did my best to create a positive atmosphere for them before the away match; they also have tough matches ahead."
