Ariana Huffington Resigns As Huff Post Chief Editor

11.08.2016 20:19

Ariana Huffington announced Thursday she is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, a Pulitzer Prize winning news aggregator website she founded 11 years ago.

"I thought HuffPost would be my last act. But I've decided to step down as HuffPost's editor-in-chief to run my new venture, Thrive Global," Huffington tweeted.

"To everyone at HuffPost: it's you who make HuffPost what it is. I'm filled with gratitude to all the colleagues and friends I've made here," she wrote.

Thrive Global, in its launching statement, positions itself as "a corporate and consumer well-being and productivity platform" that provides training, seminars and e-courses.

The company is a continuation of Huffington's interest in wellness and productivity, expressed in her books Thrive and The Sleep Revolution, published in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

Huffington Post, founded in May 2005, is a popular Internet-based publication that has a January 2016 Alexa popularity rating of 128, meaning the site receives substantial traffic.

Huff Post senior military correspondent, David Wood, won a Pulitzer Prize in 2012 for "Beyond the Battlefield", a 10-part series covering the lives of severely wounded veterans, according to the website. -
