At a tribal wedding held in the Gebze district of Kocaeli, the bride was gifted 3 kilograms of gold, while the groom received 4 million 50 thousand Turkish Lira.
The son of Tunay and Zafer Özbağ from the Özbağ family, which is affiliated with the Celali Tribe, Serhat, married Şevval, the daughter of Ayşe and Erdal Bitirgiç, in an outdoor area of a social facility in Gebze Cumhuriyet Neighborhood. Thousands of people attended the wedding, from tribal leaders to opinion leaders, business people, and NGO presidents. At the wedding, where guests competed to give gifts, the bride Şevval Özbağ received a total of 3 kilograms of gold along with a 900-gram belt, while the groom Serhat Özbağ was gifted 4 million 50 thousand TL.
SUITCASES WERE NOT ENOUGH
When the money received by the family elders, known as 'toy fathers,' consisting of 8 people, could not fit into the suitcase, another bag was brought. The wedding ended with halay dances and games played until the late hours of the night.
