The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, stated regarding the minimum wage increase rate for the year 2025, which millions of workers are eagerly awaiting, "We aim for the wage level to be at the maximum point that our worker and employer stakeholders can agree on, without disrupting the overall stability of our economy."
RETIREMENT SYSTEM
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, made important statements during a television program he attended. Minister Işıkhan said regarding whether there will be a change in the retirement system, "We do not foresee any changes in our retirement system at the moment."
Minister Işıkhan continued his statement as follows: The regulations to be made in the social security system within the framework of the Medium-Term Plan will aim to increase the welfare of our nation. As the AK Party, we have carried out serious reform efforts in the social security system. SSK, Bağ-kur, and the Pension Fund have been united under a single roof. This is one of the very important steps. We do not foresee any changes in our retirement system at the moment. However, we will continue our work by considering every kind of evaluation that will take the retirement system to better dimensions. Our goal will be to protect and advance the existing rights of our retirees. Establishing a fairer system is also very important for us. We hope to implement these regulations.
MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE RATE
Another important topic that Minister Işıkhan addressed was the minimum wage increase rate for 2025, which millions of workers are waiting for. Işıkhan noted the following in his statement regarding the minimum wage:
The minimum wage is a wage that determines the lowest wage in our country and around the world. It represents the minimum wage. It is a situation that affects our employees and indirectly their families. It is one of the fundamental issues of our working life. The minimum wage is not a matter that we determine alone as the government. God willing, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will start its work in the first week of December. We must clarify and publish it in the Official Gazette by a certain time frame until December 31. We will have the opportunity to share it with the public in December. The most important thing is the inflation rate. Inflation is gradually decreasing. Economic growth and the type of workforce we need on a sectoral basis will be decisive in determining wages here. This commission will evaluate how the living standards of our citizens can be improved. While doing this, we aim for the wage level to be at the maximum point that our worker and employer stakeholders can agree on, without disrupting the overall stability of our economy. I would like to thank our stakeholders, TÜRK-İŞ and TİSK, regarding the determination of the minimum wage in previous years. Last year, we set it at 17 thousand lira. God willing, we will determine a common minimum wage by discussing it; and we will implement it in January.
