Manager Ayşe Barım was brought to the courthouse as part of an investigation regarding allegations of her involvement in the Gezi Park events and directing artists to participate in the protests.
Ayşe Barım was brought to the courthouse to give a statement as part of the investigation conducted on the allegation that she directed artists to participate in the Gezi Park protests and was one of the planners of the events.
Following recent claims in the written and visual media regarding manager Ayşe Barım's participation in the Gezi Park protests, an investigation was initiated ex officio by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was determined that she had a meeting with fugitive defendant of the Gezi Park case, actor Mehmet Ali Alabora, and another individual, during which they exchanged ideas about publishing a statement regarding artists in the context of the Gezi Park events. It was also concluded that the content of the yet-to-be-identified statement could harm them and that it should be published when the protests were occurring more actively.
INTENSE COMMUNICATION WITH THOSE NAMES
It was found that suspect Barım had intense communication with Osman Kavala, Çiğdem Mater Utku, and Memet Ali Alabora, who are defendants in the Gezi Park case. In the analysis studies regarding Barım, it was claimed that between May 29, 2013, and June 2, 2013, she directed artists affiliated with her company to participate in the Gezi Park events, and it was alleged that she personally participated in the events with the artists from her company. Barım was arrested and taken into custody on the charge of 'attempting to overthrow or prevent the government of the Republic of Turkey from performing its duties' as one of the planners of the events.
SHE WILL GIVE A STATEMENT
After completing her procedures at the police station, suspect Barım was brought to the Istanbul Courthouse located in Çağlayan. While Barım is expected to give a statement to the prosecutor's office, the presence of director Ali Bilgin at the courthouse to support suspect Barım drew attention.
