Bedirhan Şener, the son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, shot and killed his grandmother whom he had taken hostage at his home. An argument broke out between Bedirhan Şener and his grandmother Leyla Çetiner, who lived in Ayrancı neighborhood in Ankara, for unknown reasons. Abdüllatif Şener then went out to the street where the house was located and reported the situation to the police. Upon the report, a large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. A special operations police team was also sent to the area due to the nature of the incident. Meanwhile, Bedirhan Şener shot and killed his grandmother Çetiner with the gun. WHO IS ABDÜLLATİF ŞENER?Abdüllatif Şener was born in 1954 in Yıldızeli district of Sivas. His father's name is Bedirhan and his mother's name is Ahzerat. He graduated from Sivas Imam Hatip High School and completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics and Finance in 1977. He started his academic career as a research assistant at Bolu Sevk and Administration College affiliated with Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences and continued his doctoral studies in the field of Finance Theory at Gazi University. He became the deputy dean at Gazi University Bolu Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. He served as a faculty member in the Department of Finance at Hacettepe University Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. He worked as an income controller at the Ministry of Finance. He was among the founders of the AK Party, which was established in 2001. He was elected as a member of parliament for Sivas in the 2002 general elections. He served as a state minister and deputy prime minister in the Abdullah Gül Government and the Erdoğan Government between 2002 and 2007. He did not run for office in the 2007 elections and resigned from the AK Party. He founded the Turkey Party on May 25, 2009. He resigned from the party's leadership before the 2011 general elections and ran as an independent candidate for parliament from Sivas, but was not elected. The Turkey Party, which he founded, was closed on August 27, 2012. He was elected as a member of parliament from Konya from the Republican People's Party in the 2018 general elections. He speaks French. He is married and has 4 children.
