The incident took place on Açıksu Street in Devteyşti Neighborhood, located in the Haliliye district. A dispute broke out between the watermelon seller, who was warned for occupying the sidewalk, and the municipal police. As the argument escalated, the shopkeepers and municipal police started physically attacking each other. The fight, which turned into a battlefield, was calmed down by the police using pepper spray.
Journalists who received the tip quickly arrived at the scene. The shopkeepers in the area reacted to the municipal police who obstructed the journalists and tried to prevent them from filming.
