BRIBERY OPERATION AGAINST CUSTOMS OFFICIALS
According to the information received, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit conducted an operation under the coordination of the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of "Bribery and violation of Law No. 5607." As a result of the teams' efforts, a bribery network involving customs officials, the owner of a private customs consultancy firm, and its employees was identified.
CUSTOMS SEAL FOUND IN PRIVATE CONSULTANCY OFFICE
Subsequently, simultaneous operations were carried out at the identified addresses. While 27 suspects were detained in Mersin and 1 in Kocaeli, searches were conducted at the suspects' workplaces and addresses. It was learned that the customs seal had originated from a private customs consultancy office.
10 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The 28 suspects who were detained were transferred to the Silifke Courthouse after their statements were taken at the police station. Of the suspects brought before the court, 10 were arrested. 17 of the 18 suspects were released under judicial control, while 1 was released to stand trial without detention.
