At around 22:30 in Istanbul Esenyurt, an incident occurred on 641st Street in the Sultaniye neighborhood, where İlhan Sapil (43), who was reported to have psychological issues, had an argument with his brother Barış Sapil. As the argument escalated quickly, İlhan Sapil fired multiple shots at his brother with the gun he had with him. After the shooting, İlhan Sapil fled to his house on the same street, locking himself in with his children. Upon notification, a large number of police and medical teams were dispatched to the street. Barış Sapil, who sustained 4 gunshot wounds and was severely injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after the first intervention, but despite all efforts, he could not be saved and lost his life. SURRENDERED WITH HIS GUNIlhan Sapil, who locked himself in his apartment on the third floor of his 4-story building with his children, refused to surrender while special operations teams were dispatched to the street. Security forces took extensive security measures in the area. After the teams' efforts, Sapil was convinced to surrender, tying his gun in a bag and sending it down with a rope to hand it over to the police. Following the intervention of the special operations teams, Sapil was taken into custody and brought to the police station. Crime scene investigation teams also came to the street to conduct their work.
