Masked robbers committed a burglary while Prince William of Wales and his family were sleeping in their nearby home at Windsor Castle in England. Two masked thieves scaled a 2-meter fence at night and stole farm vehicles. Witnesses said, "It seems the thieves had been watching the castle for some time." As they fled, the robbers smashed through the security gate with the stolen truck, escaping with a pickup and an ATV from a barn. During the incident, King Charles and Queen Camilla were not at the castle. However, 42-year-old Prince William and Kate were at Adelaide Cottage with their children George (11), Charlotte (9), and Louis (6). The family frequently uses the door that the thieves broke while escaping. The revelation of the incident came after it was announced that armed police had withdrawn from the two main entrance gates of Windsor Castle. The burglary took place at Shaw Farm, within the castle's security zone. A source said: "They must have known the vehicles were there in advance and chosen the most opportune time to escape without being caught. The castle has an alarm system, but the burglary was only noticed when they broke through the security barrier." Thames Valley Police made the following statement regarding the incident: "We received a report of a burglary on the Royal estate in Windsor around 23:45 on Sunday, October 13. The suspects entered a farm building and stole a black Isuzu pickup and a red ATV." No arrests have been made in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. Previously, on Christmas Day 2021, a person armed with a crossbow scaled the fence and attempted to kill the Queen, receiving a 9-year prison sentence.
