As the end of the year approaches, the increase rates for taxes, fees, and traffic fines that will be implemented in 2026 are being eagerly anticipated. According to experts' calculations, a 25.25% increase is expected based on the revaluation rate (YDO). It is stated that traffic fines will directly increase by 25.25%, while a 12.62% increase in property tax is anticipated. As the end of the year approaches, attention has turned to the taxes, fees, and traffic fines that will be implemented in 2026. According to the calculations made by Ekonomim writer Alaattin Aktaş based on the revaluation rate (YDO), the increase rate will be 25.25%. This rate will affect not only traffic fines but also the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) and property tax.

REVALUATION RATE IS 25.25%

In his assessment regarding the revaluation rate, Ekonomim writer Alaattin Aktaş stated:

"My prediction is that the Yİ-ÜFE will show an increase of 1.5% in September and October. In this case, the annual average Yİ-ÜFE increase at the end of October, in other words, the revaluation rate will be 25.25%."

Aktaş emphasized that the President does not have the authority to change the increase in traffic fines, stating that the fines will directly increase by 25.25% in 2026.

HERE ARE THE NEW TRAFFIC FINES ITEM BY ITEM

With the new rate, the increase in some items of traffic fines will be as follows:

  • Red light violation from 2,167 TL to 2,714 TL
  • Failure to comply with traffic signs from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Using a mobile phone from 2,167 TL to 2,714 TL
  • Not wearing a seatbelt from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Changing lanes dangerously from 9,267 TL to 11,606 TL
  • Drifting from 46,392 TL to 58,105 TL
  • Driving in the opposite direction on a one-way street from 9,267 TL to 11,606 TL
  • Parking incorrectly from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Parking in spaces reserved for the disabled from 1,986 TL to 2,487 TL
  • Violating emergency lane rules from 9,267 TL to 11,606 TL
  • Exceeding the speed limit by 10% to 30% from 2,167 TL to 2,714 TL
  • Exceeding the speed limit by 30% to 50% from 4,512 TL to 5,651 TL
  • Exceeding the speed limit by more than 50% from 9,267 TL to 11,606 TL
  • Some violations related to license plates from 3,080 TL to 3,870 TL
  • Not complying with pedestrian follow rules from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Not having appropriate lighting equipment in vehicles from 4,512 TL to 5,651 TL
  • Using turn signals late from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Driving only with parking lights from 993 TL to 1,243 TL
  • Loading the vehicle in a dangerous manner from 2,072 TL to 2,595 TL
  • Driving under the influence (above 0.50 promille - 1st offense) from 9,267 TL to 11,606 TL
  • Driving under the influence (above 0.50 promille - 2nd offense) from 11,622 TL to 14,556 TL
  • Driving under the influence (above 0.50 promille - 3rd offense and beyond) from 18,677 TL to 23,392 TL
  • Refusing to allow an alcohol test from 26,557 TL to 33,262 TL

MTV AND PROPERTY TAX WILL ALSO INCREASE

The increase will not be limited to traffic fines. Aktaş stated that the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) will also increase at the same rate, saying, "MTV has been applied at the level of YDO for two years (2024 and 2025). It will be the same in 2026."

In property tax, a different method is applied. According to the law, property tax is increased by half of the YDO rate. Therefore, a 12.62% increase in property tax is expected in 2026.
