Amazon's shareholders are suggesting that the company diversify its portfolio with Bitcoin to combat inflation and increase shareholder value. This strategy aims to inspire Amazon to achieve similar successes, drawing from MicroStrategy's profitable investments. This step, which will strengthen the company's asset structure, could open new financial horizons with the market value leader Bitcoin. Diversifying Amazon's Portfolio with BitcoinAmazon shareholders are calling for a fundamental change in the company's financial strategy. In a call led by the National Center for Public Policy Research, the technology giant is being asked to invest at least 5% of its total assets in Bitcoin. Shareholders are particularly highlighting the success story of MicroStrategy. The fact that MicroStrategy's shares have gained over 500% in value this year presents a striking contrast to Amazon's 49% increase. The 134% increase in Bitcoin's value this year and its surpassing of the $100,000 level have overshadowed the performance of traditional investment vehicles like gold and the S&P 500. Shareholders argue that, citing companies like Tesla and Block that have adopted cryptocurrency strategies, Amazon must also keep pace with this trend. With a total asset value of $585 billion, Amazon has $88 billion in cash and cash equivalents. These assets include Treasury bills, foreign government bonds, and corporate bonds. Shareholders claim that the current asset distribution is insufficient to maintain the company's value. A similar initiative was made to Microsoft last month. The Bitcoin investment proposal presented to Microsoft shareholders by NCPPR is scheduled to be voted on December 10.
