CHP leader Özgür Özel made statements regarding the agenda at his party's parliamentary group meeting. Özel called for a nationwide call to turn on and off the lights, saying, "If you want a raise in the minimum wage, if you want the minimum wage to increase, we are starting tonight at 9 o'clock. Turn on the lights, turn off the lights. The lights will be visible from space. Show yourselves, let those who demand a raise stand up. We will forcefully obtain the raise."
Speaking at his party's group meeting, CHP leader Özgür Özel's number one agenda item was the economy. Criticizing the government, Özel called on citizens to take action.
"THOSE WHO WANT A RAISE, STAND UP"
Reacting to the lack of increase in the minimum wage and retirement pensions, Özel said, "If you want a raise in the minimum wage, if you want the minimum wage to increase, we are starting tonight at 9 o'clock. Turn on the lights, turn off the lights. The lights will be visible from space. Show yourselves, those who want a raise, stand up. We will get the raise by force."
EARLY ELECTION DISCUSSIONS
Sending a message about early elections, Özel said, "When you vote for CHP and the Turkey Alliance in the upcoming elections, you will see that the money in your pocket is worth 10 times more. You will think that you can buy diesel for 4 liras with today's salary. You will think that your electricity bill will be 50 liras instead of 500 liras with today's salary. This means an increase in national income. And sharing it equally means this. Especially after the first elections, I don't know how many of them can escape, because the people are demanding elections louder every day. Our party will come to power in the first general elections, Turkey will prosper, and everyone will relax."
RESPONSE TO ERDOĞAN'S 'PLANE' REMARK
Responding to Erdoğan's statements, Özel said, "We will be in Cyprus on July 20th. Mr. Erdoğan made a statement about us on the plane again, saying 'We invited them but they didn't come.' We are going with our own plane. Erdoğan may be confused, but all the planes in Ajet and THY fleets are CHP's planes."
REGULATION ON WOMEN'S SURNAME
Commenting on the regulation regarding women's surnames, Özel said, "There is a regulation regarding women's surnames in the omnibus bill in the parliament these days. They are trying to take away a constitutional gain of women. You, as the state, will interfere with a woman's surname! What's it to you! Women make their own decisions! Women decide what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, when and where to go, and which surname to use."
