"Can those who do not pray fast? The views of theologians are very clear."

With the arrival of the month of Ramadan, thoughts such as "If you do not pray, you do not need to fast" have started to increase. Theologians, who state that these approaches are ignorant, emphasize that those who do not pray or do not wear a headscarf can also fast, as all of these are independent acts of worship.

With the arrival of the month of Ramadan, the same discussions that occur every year have begun to resurface. One of these topics has been "Those who do not pray are not required to fast."

"PRAYER AND FASTING ARE INDEPENDENT ACTS OF WORSHIP"

Experts who state that these approaches are ignorant emphasize that prayer and fasting are independent acts of worship. Theologians pointed out that it is also incorrect to say to women who do not cover themselves, "They do not need to fast, and their fast will not be accepted by Allah."

According to a report in Mirathaber, theologians stated that Allah commanded fasting without imposing the conditions of prayer and covering, and that making statements that hinder the inclination towards fasting is a great sin that prevents goodness.

This issue is addressed in the Quran in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 185:

"The month of Ramadan is the one in which the Quran was revealed as a guidance for mankind, with clear proofs of guidance and the criterion to distinguish between right and wrong. So whoever among you witnesses the month, let him fast it. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then an equal number of other days. And remember that Allah has made this obligation for your own good and out of His mercy towards you: for Allah desires ease for you and does not desire hardship. Therefore, completing the number of days designated for fasting by making up for them on other days or by giving a fidya is a way for you to honor and glorify Him as He has taught you, and to express your gratitude for all these blessings."
