The Çan Municipality reminded on social media that causing damage to municipal property could result in a prison sentence of 1 to 4 years according to the Turkish Penal Code.

In the statement made by the municipality, it was warned that "the punishment for damaging municipal property is evaluated within the scope of Article 152 of the Turkish Penal Code, which regulates the qualified forms of property damage. Therefore, the defendant who damages municipal property may be sentenced to imprisonment from 1 to 4 years."
