Recently, an indictment was prepared regarding Cemil Koç, who was detained and arrested in connection with the murder of Ayşe Tokyaz in Istanbul and sent to prison. This indictment is related to the case of Ejegül Ovezova, who lost her life after falling from the 8th floor of an apartment building in Diyarbakır in 2023. The manager of the apartment where Ovezova died stated that Koç "came to the site 2 months ago and prayed at the spot where the girl fell."

Naif Polat, the site manager, said about Ejegül Ovezova, who lost her life after falling from the 8th floor of an apartment in Diyarbakır in 2023, "Two months ago, the girl came to the site, and according to the security guard, she prayed at the place where the girl fell."

Cemil Koç, who was detained in connection with the murder of university student Ayşe Tokyaz, whose body was found in a suitcase by the roadside in Eyüpsultan on July 13 after being killed, was arrested for 'intentional murder,' while six others who assisted him were arrested for 'aiding intentional murder.'

INDICTMENT PREPARED FOR SUSPICIOUS DEATH TWO YEARS AGO

In the investigation regarding Ejegül Ovezova, who died after falling from the 8th floor of a site in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on July 24, 2023, it was revealed that Cemil Koç was also a suspect in the murder case.

The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on July 4, 2025, was accepted by the 6th Heavy Penal Court. The indictment stated that an examination was conducted at the house where the incident occurred, blood-like stains were found on the floor and items, and it was determined that most of the samples taken from these stains belonged to the victim.

HE SAID, "I WAS IN THE BATHROOM AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT"

In his statement in the indictment, suspect Cemil Koç said that he was in the bathroom at the time of the incident, and when he heard a noise and went to the living room, he did not see Ovezova. He said he went downstairs and saw the woman lying face down on the ground and thought she might have committed suicide. The indictment also included the report of the Forensic Medicine Institution, stating that the DNA samples taken from under the nails showed a mixture of genotypes from the victim Ejegül Ovezova and suspect Cemil Koç.

This situation indicated that there had been a struggle between them, and it was noted that Koç caused the woman's death by throwing her out of the window, and sufficient suspicion was obtained to initiate a public prosecution against the suspect for the crime of intentional murder.

PRISON SENTENCE REQUESTED FOR "INTENTIONAL MURDER OF A WOMAN"

The indictment stated that blood traces found on the quilt inside the washing machine and on the edge of the mattress in the living room belonged to the victim, but due to the absence of any wounds or cuts on the victim's body, a direct link between the blood stains in the house and the death could not be established. However, it was expressed that when evaluated together with the DNA sample from under the nails, sufficient suspicion was formed that the suspect killed the woman, and it was requested that Cemil Koç be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment under Article 82/1-f of the Turkish Penal Code for 'intentional murder of a woman.'

HE ARRIVED HALF AN HOUR AFTER THE INCIDENT

Naif Polat, the manager of the site where Ejegül Ovezova fell, recounted the day of the incident, saying, "Two years ago, we were lying on the balcony. It was night. We heard a noise and thought a carpet had fallen. Then the security guard shouted that someone had fallen from the building. When I went, the security guard was there, and no one else was around. Then the doorman came. Half an hour later, I saw someone come and throw himself on her. He shouted 'Eje Eje.' I got angry and said, 'Eje is dead, her head is smashed.' Her head had hit the pavement. Her phone was in her hand; it was completely gone. We called the police. The police and prosecutor came. We couldn't sleep that night until morning. They caught him and took him away. A week later, they moved out of the house," he said.

HE PRAYED AT THE PLACE WHERE SHE DIED

Polat stated that Cemil Koç came to the place where Ejegül lost her life about two months ago and prayed, saying, "He came to the place where she fell and recited Fatiha. He knelt down and recited Fatiha. The security guard asked, 'Is everything okay?' He said, 'A girl fell from my house here. I came to recite Fatiha for her.' It had not been a month since he moved in. He had stayed in the house for 10-11 days; he was a tenant. I didn't see anyone else coming or going. As far as I could see, he was the only one. The doorman helped him move in. He had no acquaintances; he had just arrived, and no one knew him," he expressed.

HE WAS WITH EJEGÜL AT THE WINDOW

Naif Polat stated that some people living in the opposite sites claimed to have witnessed the incident, saying, "They saw the incident from the opposite site. They said the girl had climbed out the window. We didn't see it, of course; our house is on the 1st floor. It is not visible. Some say the man pushed the woman, while others say the girl was trying to jump, and the man was trying to save her. Only God knows. We don't know. The man came more than half an hour after the incident, crying out, 'Oh, oh, Eje Eje, what have you done, Eje, what have you done?' Our doorman said, 'The girl fell from his house.' At first, we didn't know it was Eje, that she had fallen from that house. She was covered in blood; the girl was in a terrible state. Her head had hit the pavement. If she had fallen on the grass, maybe she could have survived."
