Ismet Sayhan, the former Chairman of the Board of the Machinery and Chemical Industry, has been arrested as part of the investigation into an alleged armed criminal organization led by Selahattin Yılmaz. Sayhan was detained on charges of "Destruction of Documents Related to State Security, Misuse for Purposes Other Than Intended, and Fraudulently Obtaining" and evidence documents were seized during searches conducted at his home and workplace.

10 ARRESTS IN CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION OPERATION



Last week, as part of operations carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Muğla, and Samsun, 17 people were detained. Among them, 10 people, including Selahattin Yılmaz, who is accused of being the "leader of an organized crime group," lawyer Cem Duman, and lawyer Semra Ilık, were arrested, while 6 people were released under judicial control, and one person was released directly.



CHARGES OF "MEMBERSHIP IN A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION" AND "ESPIONAGE" AGAINST SAYHAN



Another notable name was detained during the ongoing operations initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Ismet Sayhan, the former Chairman of the Board of the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), was detained 4 days ago in Ankara as part of the investigation initiated for "membership in a criminal organization" and "espionage." Evidence documents seized during searches at Sayhan's home and office were brought to Istanbul.



HE WAS ARRESTED



This morning, Sayhan, who was taken to the Istanbul Courthouse located in Çağlayan, was referred to the Peace Criminal Court with a request for arrest after his statement to the prosecutor, on the charge of "Destruction of Documents Related to State Security, Use for Purposes Other Than Intended, and Obtaining by Fraud." The court decided to arrest Sayhan.
