STATEMENT FROM GÜRLEK'S LAWYER
Chief Prosecutor Akın Gürlek's lawyer Abdullah Adır made a written statement regarding the donation decision. Adır stated that the entire amount of moral compensation won on behalf of his client would be donated to AFAD to support earthquake victims on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes.
In his statement, Adır included the following remarks: "We have decided to donate the entire amount awarded in the moral compensation case won on behalf of my client to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority to contribute to the healing of the wounds of our earthquake-affected citizens on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes. This decision was made entirely with a sense of social responsibility, without considering any personal interests."
Adır continued his remarks as follows: "It is certainly a right to resort to legal means against unjust, unfounded, and discrediting statements directed at judicial members. However, we find it correct and conscientious that the gains obtained as a result of these processes are directed towards the public good, especially to meet the needs of our earthquake-affected citizens who have experienced great suffering. On this occasion, we once again pray for the deceased citizens and wish patience to those who remain."
It was noted that the donation would be transferred to the accounts of the relevant institutions after the necessary procedures are completed, and the process would be carried out transparently.
