Israeli political commentator Gideon Levy claimed that the agreement reached between the US and Iran is seen as a defeat for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Arguing that Israel was excluded from the negotiation process, Levy stated that the most critical issue for the future of the agreement is Lebanon, and noted that Israel's military presence in the region could pose an obstacle to a permanent ceasefire.

Israeli political commentator Gideon Levy said that the agreement reached between the US and Iran is seen in Israel as a personal defeat for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Levy argued that Israel was left out of the negotiations and emerged from the process with a loss.

"ISRAEL WAS LEFT OUT OF THE NEGOTIATIONS"

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Gideon Levy stated that the Iran issue has been one of Netanyahu's most important political goals for many years.

Levy, who said that the agreement between the US and Iran is evaluated in Israeli public opinion as "Israel's defeat and Netanyahu's personal defeat," expressed that the Tel Aviv administration was completely excluded from the negotiation process.

"ISRAEL LOST THIS GAME"

Levy claimed that Israel could only resort to sabotage attempts against the process. Evaluating the recent attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut in Lebanon within this context, Levy described these operations as "childish and meaningless attacks." The Israeli commentator stated, "It is now very clear that Israel lost this game."

"THE BIGGEST TEST OF THE AGREEMENT WILL BE LEBANON"

According to Levy, one of the most critical topics for the future of the agreement will be Lebanon. Noting that US President Donald Trump's influence on Israel has not yet been fully tested, Levy argued that Netanyahu might want to break a ceasefire that does not meet Israel's priorities.

Stating that the agreement is very fragile, Levy said that Iran has established a strong link between Lebanon and the agreement, and this situation could create new problems in the future.

"PERMANENT CEASEFIRE IS DIFFICULT UNLESS ISRAEL WITHDRAWS"

Levy claimed that Israeli soldiers are still in Lebanon and the Tel Aviv administration does not seem inclined to withdraw from the region.

Stating that achieving a full-scale ceasefire is therefore difficult, Levy argued that as long as Israel's presence in Lebanon continues, resistance movements will also persist.
