At the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, member countries pledged over 21 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine. The United Kingdom announced that it would provide a record aid of 4.5 billion pounds.
The UK Defense Secretary John Healey announced that countries in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group have pledged more than 21 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine today.
The NATO-Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium, co-chaired by the Defense Ministers of Germany and the UK.
Following the meeting, which brought together representatives from 32 NATO member countries and other nations that have provided military equipment support to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, UK Defense Secretary John Healey, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a joint press conference.
COMMITMENTS OF AID TO UKRAINE EXCEED 21 BILLION EUROS
In his speech, Healey began by reminding that the leadership of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is held by Germany and the UK, stating, "The Contact Group includes 51 countries and partners from regions reaching from Europe to the Indo-Pacific and South America. The total of new military aid commitments announced today through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group has exceeded 21 billion euros."
£4 BILLION IN AID FROM THE UK
Healey announced that the UK will make a record-level spending of £4.5 billion in defense aid this year, which will also include the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and the supply of anti-tank mines. Healey stated, "2025 is a critical year and a critical moment in terms of the war in Ukraine." He added, "Together, we are sending a message to Russia and communicating to Ukraine: Just as we stand by you in war, we will stand by you in peace."
