Algeria finish at bottom of Group E after losing 3 1 to Ivory Coast.

Defending champions Algeria were eliminated Thursday from the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), finishing at the bottom of Group E without managing to win any of their matches.

Algeria lost to 3-1 to Ivory Coast, while Equatorial Guinea defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 in the last matches of the group.

Algeria had just one point in the tournament.

Leaders Ivory Coast and runners-up Equatorial Guinea have four and three points, respectively, and both are through to the round of 16.

Algeria won the title in 1990 and 2019.

Burkina Faso, Gabon, Nigeria, Gambia, Guinea, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Malawi, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Comoros and Tunisia are in the round of 16.
