The DEM Party delegation, consisting of Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, went to the Presidential Complex to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Before the meeting, Buldan and Sancar made a statement, saying they would convey their demands regarding the Terror-Free Turkey process, including the release of Selahattin Demirtas, to President Erdogan.

Following the new law adopted in Parliament within the scope of the Türkiye without Terrorism process, all eyes turned to Ankara. The DEM Party delegation, consisting of Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, went to the Presidential Complex to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Making a statement before the critical summit scheduled for 4:00 PM, the delegation shared the main agenda items of the meeting with the public.

CRITICAL AGENDA ITEMS ON THE TABLE

The prominent topics to be discussed in the meeting between the DEM Party's İmralı Delegation and President Erdoğan are listed as follows:

  • The swift implementation of the new law without extending it over time.
  • The establishment of the official boards stipulated in the law.
  • Planning the new meeting to be held with Abdullah Öcalan.
  • The urgent implementation of high court decisions.
  • The release of Selahattin Demirtaş and other political prisoners.

"THE PROCESS MUST ADVANCE WITHOUT BEING PROLONGED"

Emphasizing the great importance of holding the meeting immediately after the law voted on in Parliament, Pervin Buldan stated that they would also announce their expectations and the steps to be taken through a written statement. Underlining that the process needs to be accelerated, Buldan used the following expressions:

"The process must move forward quickly. Of course, we will discuss these as well. We certainly do not want the process to be infected by prolonging it. We believe that such a thing should not be allowed. For this, rapid progress needs to be made."

SANCAR: THE FIRST CORNERSTONE OF THE LAW OF PEACE

Mithat Sancar from the DEM Party delegation described the law passed by Parliament as a historic step, commenting it was "the first cornerstone of the law of peace." Drawing attention to the implementation phase and institutional basis of the law, Sancar noted:

"This first important step needs to be implemented. We will exchange views on the implementation phase, on how this law will be applied. For applications to begin, the boards need to be established, the National Security Council (MGK) needs to take a decision, and the decision must be published in the Official Gazette. We will convey to Mr. President that the process needs to be operated and completed as soon as possible."

İMRALI VISIT AND PARLIAMENT CONTACTS BEING PLANNED

Responding to claims about whether Abdullah Öcalan would make a new statement, Sancar stated that they did not yet have clear information, but they would plan a visit to İmralı.

Emphasizing that after President Erdoğan, they quickly need to hold a meeting with Abdullah Öcalan as well, Buldan signaled that they could also establish contact with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş and other political parties. Buldan stated that there was a need to establish a "monitoring board" within Parliament.

AYM DECISIONS AND DEMİRTAŞ'S RELEASE

Clear messages were also given regarding the legal situations, one of the most anticipated topics of the meeting. Pervin Buldan stated that the implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court (AYM) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), without waiting for the MGK report, creates a great expectation in society.

To a question about whether Selahattin Demirtaş's release would come to the agenda, Buldan gave a short and clear answer: "We will discuss every issue."
