Selahattin Demirtaş, who is detained in Edirne Prison, shared a post titled "Almost There" on his social media account. In his article regarding the terror-free Turkey process, Demirtaş targeted CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who sparked controversy with his "immunity" stance, stating, "If the President is to open the door to principled, moral, and fair compromises, he should also avoid giving credit to those who seek salvation through coups, trustees, and detentions, and offer opportunities for new beginnings."
Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne Prison, wrote an article titled "Almost There" for the site named Barış Meydanı via his social media account. Referring to the "Terror-Free Turkey" debates, Demirtaş stated that principled and fair compromises need to be made to initiate a new process.
"THE PRESIDENT'S DECISIONS WILL BE DECISIVE" In his article, addressing President Erdoğan, Selahattin Demirtaş also targeted CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, with whom tensions have escalated over the "immunity" debate, without naming him.
Demirtaş said: "The process now requires and compels concrete, tangible, visible steps. These steps are not concessions but rights and lawful steps, as natural as mother's milk, for our common life.
Selahattin Demirtaş "WITHOUT GIVING CREDIT TO THOSE WHO HOPE FOR COUPS..." What will be decisive here will be the future attitude and decisions of Mr. President. He is quite clearly aware that opportunists ready to seize spoils from a potential wreck, clowns doing backflips for profit, and hypocrites boundless in sycophancy are increasingly gathering around him. If Mr. President is to open the door to principled, ethical, fair compromises, he should put an end to all that has happened, and without giving credit to those who hope for coups, trusteeships, and detentions, he should offer opportunities for new beginnings."
DEMİRTAŞ TOLD KILIÇDAROĞLU "DON'T COME" After CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu stated "I am not regretful" regarding his support for the removal of Selahattin Demirtaş's immunity, ties broke. Following the announcement by Kılıçdaroğlu's deputy Necdet Saraç that a visit to Edirne Prison would be made in the coming days, it was learned that Selahattin Demirtaş, the former HDP Co-Chair who has been imprisoned for about 10 years, would reject this meeting request and would not receive Kılıçdaroğlu.
IN PRISON SINCE 2016 Selahattin Demirtaş was arrested in 2016 within the scope of investigations against him after the constitutional amendment on the removal of parliamentary immunity was adopted. The regulation that paved the way for the trial process of Demirtaş, who has been in prison for about 10 years, passed through Parliament with a vote that also received support from Kılıçdaroğlu.
