Despite the Capital Markets Board (CMB) explicitly prohibiting foreign cryptocurrency exchanges from targeting individuals residing in Turkey through advertising, referrals, and leveraged trading, the bonus campaigns and influencer posts conducted for MEXC Global via social media and Telegram are drawing attention.
It has been observed that some crypto content creators have made referrals and announcements regarding MEXC Global campaigns on social media platforms such as X (Twitter) and Telegram. In the posts, it was stated that those who make score predictions for the Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe derby would receive a bonus of 25 or 50 USDT, and that registration must be done through referral links belonging to MEXC Global to participate.
It drew attention that accounts and Telegram groups featuring some well-known names in crypto communities such as Şevki Kara, Nusret Çakırbeyli, Kripto Capris, Gözde Analiz, Bilgi Kripto, Doğancan Çakırlı, Coindoktorunuz, Cryptoches, Coin Craft, Teknikçi, and Derin Analiz shared links directing to MEXC Global and announcements of rewarded campaigns. In these contents, users were asked to register with MEXC and complete KYC verification, and to perform transactions using the referral links provided to them.
BONUS, REFERRAL, AND SCORE PREDICTION: IS IT A MODEL BANNED BY THE CMB?
In the content shared in Telegram groups and social media accounts, it was seen that MEXC Global offers special bonuses for Turkish users, attracts new users with referral links, and encourages participation in the platform through activities such as score predictions based on football matches.
According to CMB regulations, such bonus-based referrals, referral campaigns, and rewarded events are among the activities that are explicitly prohibited if conducted by a foreign platform targeting investors in Turkey.
BETTING-LIKE ACTIVITIES SPARKED DEBATE
The organization of campaigns based on score predictions through highly followed football matches like Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe has also become a topic of discussion on social media. Some investors commented that such activities have transformed into a betting-like structure rather than crypto investment, emphasizing that attracting users to the platform with the promise of bonuses could be risky.
WHY ARE INVESTORS CONCERNED?
Complaints regarding account freezing, sudden delisting, and support issues about MEXC Global had previously come to the fore. Now, allegations that this platform continues to attract users in Turkey with a business model banned by the CMB create a new risk category for investors.
According to experts, despite the CMB's explicit ban, investors who are directed to a foreign platform to conduct transactions face the risk of not being able to find a counterpart in Turkey and not being able to seek their rights in the event of a potential victimization.
