A 13-year-old girl, locked in a storage box of a divan in India, was found to have been forced to work as a domestic worker for six years after being kidnapped; the child was rescued and placed under protection, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
The incident that emerged in India once again highlighted the dimensions of child abuse and human trafficking. During an operation carried out by security forces, a 13-year-old girl was found locked in the storage compartment of a sofa in a house.
FORCED TO WORK IN HOUSEHOLD CHORES FOR 6 YEARS
Investigations revealed that the young girl had been forced to work in household chores for approximately 6 years, her freedom was restricted, and she was subjected to harsh conditions. It was learned that the child had been kidnapped from another family years ago and that her connection to the outside world had been completely severed during this time.
RESCUE MOMENTS RECORDED
Moments when the child was taken out from where she was found were recorded by the authorities. The footage showed that the girl had been kept in a closed space for a long time and appeared exhausted.
