The UK base personnel responded, and the Greek Cypriot Administration stated that the explosion was drone-related and that limited damage occurred. Sounds of explosions were heard at midnight, and fighter jets took off, raising concerns about the risk of the conflict spreading to the Eastern Mediterranean.

As attacks from the UK, USA, and Israel against Iran continue, the British Sovereign Base at Akrotiri in the Republic of Cyprus (RoC) has been targeted by a "suspicious unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack," and a response has been reported.

According to a report by the BBC, the UK Ministry of Defence made a statement regarding the attack on the RAF Akrotiri base in the RoC. The statement noted that the British Sovereign Base at Akrotiri in the RoC was the target of a "suspicious unmanned aerial vehicle attack," stating, "Our force protection in the area is at the highest level, and the base has responded to defend our personnel."

"EXPLOSION SOURCED FROM UAV"

The Government Spokesman of the Republic of Cyprus (RoC), Konstantinos Letymbiotis, stated that a drone was used in the incident that occurred in the UK-controlled sovereign base area in South Cyprus, resulting in limited damage.

Letymbiotis shared on his social media accounts that they received information from various sources regarding the incident that took place at the Akrotiri Base (British sovereign base) at midnight, stating, "A UAV was used in the incident, and limited damage occurred. The relevant authorities have immediately activated the prescribed security protocols and are closely monitoring the situation in constant coordination with both the UK government and the management of the British bases."

Letymbiotis also pointed out that the National Security Council is in continuous consultation with RoC Leader Nikos Christodoulides, emphasizing that they will share more information with the public as they learn more about the matter.

Explosions were heard at the Akrotiri Base in South Cyprus tonight, and it was observed that some fighter jets stationed there took off.
