Monaco is expected to pay a fine of 25,000 euros per match due to their coach Sebastien Pocognoli lacking the necessary diploma, with this amount projected to reach 750,000 euros by the end of the season.
According to the news from the French newspaper L'Equipe, Monaco is facing sanctions because the 38-year-old Belgian coach Sebastien Pocognoli, who was appointed on October 11 to replace Adi Hütter, does not possess the necessary BEPF (Professional Football Educator Diploma) or an equivalent diploma to coach in Ligue 1.
425 THOUSAND EUROS FINE FOR 17 MATCHES
So far, Monaco has paid a fine of 425 thousand euros for Pocognoli, who has been in charge of the team in a total of 17 matches, 14 in the league and 3 in the cup. It was reported that the club has not faced any sanctions in UEFA Champions League matches due to this situation.
SOLUTION ATTEMPTED, FINE CONTINUED
The report stated that Monaco's management attempted to avoid the fine by listing one of Pocognoli's assistants, Damien Perrinelle, as the head coach on the official match list for one game, but since Perrinelle is also in the process of obtaining his diploma, the club still incurred a financial penalty.
BILL OF 750 THOUSAND EUROS AT THE END OF THE SEASON
If Sebastien Pocognoli completes the season, it was stated that Monaco would pay a total fine of approximately 750 thousand euros. In a statement from the club, it was noted that during discussions with the coach in October, this rule was taken into account and the salary adjustment was planned accordingly.
