In the Turgutlu district of Manisa, 88-year-old Mustafa Gökmen, who lived alone, lost his life in a fire that broke out on the first floor of a three-story apartment building. It was assessed that during the fire, which grew rapidly, Gökmen collapsed on the ground while trying to escape through the balcony. The fire was extinguished after approximately one hour of intervention by the fire department, rendering the apartment unusable and causing damage to the upper floor as well. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A fire that broke out in the morning in the Turgutlu district of Manisa claimed a life. The fire started around 09:00 on the 1st floor of a 3-story apartment building located on Dumlupınar Street in Altay Neighborhood. The flames, which quickly grew, also spread to the window of the upper floor.
Upon notification from bystanders, fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While intervening in the fire and attempting to enter through the balcony, the teams encountered the lifeless body of Mustafa Gökmen, who lived alone in the house.
HE LOST HIS LIFE WHILE TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM THE BALCONY
It is believed that Gökmen, who was living alone, attempted to escape by climbing out onto the balcony during the fire but collapsed and died in the process.
THE HOUSE BECAME UNUSABLE
After approximately 1 hour of intervention by fire crews, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. The apartment where the fire started became completely unusable, while partial damage occurred on the upper floor where the flames had spread.
Following the on-site investigations by the police and prosecutor, Mustafa Gökmen's body was taken to the Turgutlu State Hospital morgue. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
