5 DOGS' TRAINING COMPLETED

Reacting to the law change that foresees the killing of stray animals that are not adopted within 30 days, Beşikçioğlu stated, "As a municipality, I will assign these beloved companions, these friends, to the municipality. Our shelters will now turn into a rehabilitation center, an education center. I will no longer collect the dogs; you will bring them." This was the first step from Beşikçioğlu, who appointed 5 dogs that completed their training in the shelter.

BEŞİKÇİOĞLU: WE ARE PROVIDING OBEDIENCE TRAINING TO DOGS

Visiting the dog named "Alex," who was assigned to the nursery, Beşikçioğlu stated: "In our structures at the shelter, we primarily provide obedience training. Some of these friends are purebred animals, while others come from the streets. Some of our families take these purebred animals into their homes, but after a while, when they can no longer handle them, they abandon them on the street," he said.

"THEY WILL BE GUARD DOGS"

"After this law was passed, many of our friends brought their beloved companions to us after we said we would assign these beloved friends in our municipality. After providing them with basic training, we are providing the necessary opportunities for our citizens to adopt them. On the other hand, we will evaluate these living beings as guard dogs in areas such as the parks and gardens' depot and machinery park. Our veterinary department has made a significant contribution here. Our veterinary director is someone who has previously trained many beloved companions. He also established a team within himself, and these teams train our beloved companions and assign them as guard dogs alongside our inspectors and in our facilities," he said.

"THE SYSTEM IS WORKING FOR NOW"

Beşikçioğlu mentioned that they have the capacity to host 300 animals in the shelter, saying, "Currently, we have 80, 83 beloved companions with us. We also have 6 banned breeds, but these have now increased and their numbers have exceeded 12. Our numbers are increasing, but our project that we have implemented is progressing in a healthy way. They all have an area here where they can roam freely. Basic obedience training and search and rescue training are provided here. The system is working for now; we have made assignments to our nurseries in the morning hours. Our children showed great interest. Of course, what they want is just love. I hope this project will be an example for everyone," he stated.
