President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is engaging in a dizzying diplomatic traffic. Following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, Erdoğan continued his contacts in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, where he was attending the 11th Summit Meeting of the D-8 Organization, meeting with many world leaders. HE MET WITH SISIHe met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. According to a statement from the Presidency of Communications, the meeting addressed Turkey-Egypt bilateral relations, regional, and global issues. In the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed that Turkey will continue to strive to develop cooperation with Egypt, which has historical and cultural ties, in many areas, especially in defense industry, energy, transportation, and development, and to reach the goal of a mutual trade volume of 15 billion dollars. President Erdoğan noted that the Syrians, who have paid a high price for 13 years, will decide on their own future; he emphasized the importance of Syria's political unity and territorial integrity, stating that Turkey's support will continue for the reconstruction of the country and the establishment of internal reconciliation. President Erdoğan also mentioned in the meeting that a permanent and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza needs to be achieved as soon as possible, and that increasing solidarity between Turkey and Egypt will be beneficial for the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. SECOND MEETING WITH PEZEŞKİYANAnother meeting of Erdoğan was with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. It was stated that developments in Syria were discussed in the meeting; however, no official statement has been made yet.
