President Erdoğan delivered striking messages during the closing session of the G20 Summit. He stated, "Global peace cannot be achieved without the establishment of a Palestinian state. South Africa did not turn its back on the atrocities in Gaza, and we have also strongly supported the Palestinian cause." In a statement following the press conference, Erdoğan said, "I will speak with Putin on the phone tomorrow. We will do everything we can for peace."
President Erdoğan spoke at the closing session of the G20 Leaders Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Erdoğan stated, "Global peace cannot be achieved without the establishment of a Palestinian state. South Africa did not turn its back on the atrocities in Gaza, and we have also strongly supported the Palestinian cause."
Key points from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows: "We are pleased that the G20 is being held in Africa. I hope the summit will lead to good outcomes. Our relations with Africa have reached an important level. While crimes against humanity are being committed in Gaza in front of the whole world, our African friends, like Turkey, did not turn their backs on the massacre. I congratulate the South African government for opening a genocide case and salute them with respect on behalf of my country and my nation."
"WE HAVE SUPPORTED THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE"
As Turkey, we have also supported the Palestinian cause without hesitation. We defended the rights of the oppressed people of Gaza on every platform. Our humanitarian aid exceeding 100,000 tons has been alongside our brothers and sisters in Gaza. As you know, a ceasefire has now been achieved with our contributions. We are doing everything we can to prevent a return to the conflict environment.
"PERMANENT PEACE WILL BE ACHIEVED WITH A FREE PALESTINE"
At this point, it is necessary to implement a two-state permanent solution following the ceasefire achieved. Global peace cannot be achieved until a Palestinian state is established with its capital in East Jerusalem based on the 1967 borders. We will maintain our principled stance on this issue for the peace and tranquility of all humanity alongside the oppressed Palestinian people. This year, we also actively participated in G20 activities.
UKRAINE-RUSSIA WAR
Last week, we met with Zelensky in Ankara. Tomorrow, I will speak with Russian President Putin on the phone. We will do whatever we can for peace."
