President Erdoğan issued a message for December 10 Human Rights Day. "On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, I congratulate our nation and the entire world on December 10 Human Rights Day," Erdoğan began his remarks and continued: "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, one of the important milestones in the struggle for human dignity, reminds the international community of its responsibilities and guides the establishment of global peace and stability. However, the existence of the Declaration cannot prevent the severe violation of fundamental rights in many parts of the world and the disregard for human values.
"THEY REMAIN SILENT TO THE ATROCITIES IN PALESTINE"
Today, among the places where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is being violated in front of the whole world, Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories are at the forefront. The silence of those who claim to be human rights defenders regarding the atrocities in Palestine, or even their covert or overt support, will be remembered as a dark stain in history. As a state and a nation, we have considered it a humanitarian duty not to remain silent from the very beginning regarding the crimes against humanity occurring in Palestine. We have stood by our Palestinian brothers with all our means and will continue to do so. We are continuing our efforts to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza and other Palestinian territories and to establish lasting peace.
"WE WILL PROVIDE ALL KINDS OF SUPPORT FOR SYRIA"
We welcome the hopes for peace, stability, and tranquility that have sprouted in our neighbor Syria after more than 60 years of Baath dictatorship and 13 years of civil war. We will provide all necessary support to our Syrian brothers in their efforts to rebuild their country with the establishment of an inclusive and comprehensive governance in Syria.
On the other hand, our struggle against cultural racism, Islamophobia, and intolerance, which are among the foremost threats to fundamental rights and freedoms, continues with the same determination. I would like to remind once again that those who tolerate hate crimes and try to legitimize these crimes are attacking humanity's will to coexist.
"I CELEBRATE DECEMBER 10 HUMAN RIGHTS DAY"
Preserving the acquired rights of humanity and ending practices that violate these rights is a global obligation for all countries. I emphasize once again that reviewing the rules-based international system by eliminating double standards constitutes the first step in fulfilling this global obligation with a more inclusive and fair understanding. With these thoughts, I wish that Human Rights Day brings peace, tranquility, and justice to all humanity, especially to our Palestinian brothers who are deprived of their fundamental rights, and I celebrate December 10 Human Rights Day on behalf of our esteemed nation and the entire world."
