ARTIST SOLIDARITY
AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu published a support message for Görkem Sevindik, who became a target of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Yenişehirlioğlu emphasized that they stand by Sevindik, who is also an artist, stating, "We know very well that targeting an artist, trying to intimidate them, and aiming to scare them is a reflection of a guilty psychology. This expression is actually a confession of fear, helplessness, and despair," he said.
Yenişehirlioğlu continued his words by saying, "As an artist, I wholeheartedly congratulate my brother Görkem Sevindik, who does not remain silent in the face of Israel's oppression."
"We will never normalize these threats, we will not ignore them, and we will never bow to these blackmail attempts. We will continue to fight against the obsessive mentality of Israel, which aims to harvest political gains through hate speech, fear, and intimidation policies."
"A COURAGEOUS ATTITUDE"
Mustafa Varank, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission and AK Party Bursa Deputy, made a statement on his social media account, saying, "We stand by our artist who displays a conscientious and courageous attitude against the global hegemony of the Zionist mentality, especially in the cinema world. I hope this situation leads to the rise of similar strong voices."
"ATTEMPT TO SILENCE"
CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Media and Public Relations Burhanettin Bulut reacted to the far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who threatened Görkem Sevindik in a statement. Emphasizing that they stand by Sevindik, Deputy Chairman Bulut stated, "The threatening statements and pressure attempts of figures like Ben-Gvir are nothing but an attempt to normalize the atrocities committed by Israel and to silence those who oppose it."
"AN ATTITUDE WORTHY OF TURKISHNESS"
Hüseyin Raşit Yılmaz, Deputy Chairman of the IYI Party responsible for Media and Promotion, emphasized that it is unacceptable for the Netanyahu regime to threaten Sevindik due to his humanitarian consistency, stating, "The stance of Görkem Sevindik, an actor in the Eşref Rüya series who has earned the appreciation of our people with many successful performances, against the possible mass executions in Palestine with his artistic sensitivity is commendable. The fundamental characteristic of every Turk is to resist oppression. I congratulate dear Görkem Sevindik for this sensitivity that befits Turkishness."
"THEY ARE DISTURBED BY THE TRUTH ITSELF"
Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral also stated the following in his statement:
"The targeting of an artist by the terrorist-loving Itamar Ben-Gvir is a clear indication of helplessness and an oppressive mentality. No truth can be suppressed by threatening language, nor can conscience be silenced. Görkem Sevindik has displayed a humane situation. Those who are disturbed by this are actually disturbed by the truth itself. Calls for boycotts and lynch campaigns; all are in vain."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Görkem Sevindik, who plays the character 'Kadir Baba' in the popular Kanal D series Eşref Rüya, opposed the law that paves the way for the execution of Palestinian prisoners by stating that 12,000 people would be executed and sent a message saying, "Please let’s not remain silent." Due to the popularity of Eşref Rüya in Israel, Sevindik received numerous threat messages. Israeli fanatic Minister Ben Gvir targeted Kadir Baba by sharing a video message stating, "The death penalty is now applicable for terrorists."
