EU Industrial Producer Prices Up Annually 21.7% In Oct

Highest monthly increases recorded in Belgium, Italy, Romania, says statement by Eurostat.

Industrial producer prices in the EU were up by 21.7% in October from the same month a year ago, according to the statistical office on Thursday.

Prices increased for industrial producers by 5% in October from the previous month, when they rose 2.7%, Eurostat said in a statement.

In the euro area, industrial producer prices increased last month by 21.9% year-on-year.

They gained 5.4% on a monthly basis after a 2.8% increase in September.

The highest monthly increases in industrial producer prices were recorded in Belgium with 11.2%, followed by Italy with 9.4% and Romania with 8.6%, according to Eurostat.

"Industrial producer prices in the euro area in October 2021, compared with September 2021, increased by 16.8% in the energy sector," the statement said.

"In the EU, industrial producer prices increased by 14.9% in the energy sector," it added. -
