The EU countries manufactured 284 million tons of chemicals in 2020, up 1% versus 2019, the union's statistical department said on Tuesday.
"Consumption of these products reached 302 million tons, reflecting a similar 1% increase since 2019," Eurostat said, adding that the pandemic did not caused any reduction in this field.
Some 221.4 million tons of chemicals hazardous to health were produced last year, while the amount of chemicals hazardous to the environment produced was 78.8 million tons.
Similarly, some 230.1 million tons of chemicals hazardous to health were consumed, while the amount of chemicals hazardous to the environment consumed was 79.8 million tons. -
