Marriage officers, who come together with people from all walks of life due to their profession and formalize marriages, can find themselves at the center of extraordinary and interesting events that could be the subject of films. MARRIED BY MISTAKEGülay Otlatıcı, one of the marriage officers at the Bakırköy Marriage Office, shared her interesting memories, stating that she lost her spouse, whom she married in 1996, in 2020. Otlatıcı also explained that she was mistakenly married to the person she officiated for in 2021. "I WAS MARRIED TO A GROOM"Otlatıcı mentioned that she learned about the mistake made by an officer at the Civil Registry and Citizenship Directorate through mobile banking, saying, "I have a memory that could be the subject of a film. We used to not report our marriages ourselves; we had reported them to the civil registry. They married me to a groom. How did I realize the incident? When I logged into mobile banking on the phone, my last name appeared differently. I called the bank and asked, 'Why is it like this?' They said, 'Is it your maiden name, Ms. Gülay?' I replied, 'No, that’s not my maiden name either.' "I WAS UNINTENTIONALLY MARRIED FOR 2-3 DAYS"Otlatıcı continued her words as follows: "Then I called the civil registry, and unfortunately, I saw that they had written my ID number instead of the person the groom was supposed to marry, and they married me to him. I realized the situation 2-3 days later. Since I noticed it early, the mistake was corrected quickly; if it had taken more than 10 days, we would have been in court. I was unintentionally married for 2-3 days."
